Communication Arts students tailor their degree to suit their personal goals and career aspirations by choosing one of five tracks: Communication Science, Writing, Journalism, Performing Arts, and Theatre Arts. Majors in all tracks gain a solid foundation with core classes in theories and processes of communication, storytelling across media, science of language (linguistics), media-specific writing classes, and classes in creating digital content. Adding a Minor in Public Administration, History, Religion, Marketing (or a host of other options) enhances the student’s ability to customize a program. No matter which track students pick, they will develop strong communication skills that further a wide range of careers. Small class sizes and a faith-based community ensure students earn their degree in an academically and spiritually supportive environment.
Proximity to Boston provides ENC students with many internship and employment opportunities in Communications. In the last year, student interns have designed advertising materials for Sunday Morning Marketing, edited film for QATV, publicized the plight of shelter animals for Baywater Animal Rescue, and edited student publications for Veritas Media Association at ENC. After graduation, one major landed a full-time position as Business Development Manager for a local media platform and another became a Reporter for a major New England paper. Several transitioned from intern to employee and others continued their education in Master’s programs.
