Fusion
The molding of two entities into one cohesive unit.
This program is designed to challenge a student’s approach to cross-cultural experiences. Students will be asked to wrestle with issues they are rarely exposed to and interact in a culture different from their own. The program is structured and designed to nurture the student’s prophetic imagination. This is one that compels individuals to critically challenge systematic structures and communicate God’s hope for restoration.
During the 2022-2023 school year, three teams made up of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty and staff, participated in Fusion trips:
Reykjavik and Keflavik, Iceland: Spring Break 2023
The team worked together with The Salvation Army to serve refugees from many world areas who are making a new home for themselves in Iceland! We learned so much from listening to the stories of others and engaging in children’s programming, food service, and worship.
Barranquilla, Colombia: Summer 2023
The team worked by ministering to the community’s youth and children with two local Nazarene Churches (and our sister University, Trevecca), through preaching, music, drama, dance, and sports as well as providing needed school supplies.
Indianapolis, Indiana: Summer 2023
The team spent their days painting and cleaning at local parks, working with Habitat for Humanity to build low-income housing, and participating in outreach through a fun fair held at Shepherd Community Church of the Nazarene. In the evenings, they took part in worship with thousands of Nazarenes from around the globe at General Assembly.
The 2023-2024 school year holds great promise as we continue to partner with our friends and neighbors close to home and around the world! Stay tuned for upcoming trip details in early October!
