QUINCY – Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) relaunched a STEM-based master’s degree program in late 2023. The Master of Science in Management – Information Technology (MSM-IT) was created in partnership with Dr. Kiran Palla to reach a global audience of graduate students.
The first cohort of MSM-IT students began the weekend of Jan. 19 on ENC’s Quincy, Massachusetts campus. Students in this program learn how to integrate best business practices while also maximizing the effective and efficient use of emerging technologies. There is a critical need in the field of Information Technology for experts who can bridge the gap between managing information system infrastructure and managing human resources, something this program aims to alleviate. The MSM-IT program at ENC is a low-residency model, involving four weekend intensives a year and totals 36 credit hours.
Director of Campus Enrollment James Sheets worked diligently from November to January in assisting these students to arrive on the ENC campus before Jan. 19. Professors Rob Murphy and Russ Bedard taught the inaugural classes, including class time throughout the day on both Friday and Saturday. The College’s outside partner for this endeavor, Dr. Kiran Palla, has spent more than two decades in the Information Technology industry in the United States, as well as Canada and Australia.
“This work is the first of a growing suite of STEM offerings that ENC will provide at the graduate level,” says Dr. Tim Eades, vice president of Enrollment Management. “In the coming days, our academic leaders are exploring many additional MSM STEM-based concentrations in what we are now pleased to announce as our International Graduate Studies program.”
New cohorts of students will be welcomed to the College for the MSM-IT program on Feb. 16 and April 5. Plans will continue into the next school year with groups welcomed 6 times throughout the fall and spring.
