Bertha Munro Scholarship

Bertha Munro Scholarship

The Bertha Munro Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship for students who exemplify high academic success as well as exemplary leadership and service. Recipients of this award have demonstrated dedication through their high school careers and have touched the lives of others through their community service, leadership, and extracurricular achievements.

History of the Scholarship

The Bertha Munro Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship named in honor of Eastern Nazarene College’s first Dean, Bertha Munro. Dean Munro is embedded in the collective memories of the Eastern Nazarene College community due to her dedication and long service to the college. She has been described as brilliant, scholarly, dignified, compassionate, wise, and faithful. Dean Munro was a driving force behind the mission of the college and her philosophy still guides us today.  It was Dean Munro who said, “There is no conflict between the best in education and the best in our Christian faith.”

Munro Day

Every Spring, eligible students are invited to campus to celebrate their academic achievements and experience the Eastern Nazarene College community. Traditionally, students are given the opportunity to meet personally with professors in their anticipated field of study, tour the campus with current students, and interview for this prestigious scholarship. However, this year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Munro Scholarship Day will take place virtually.

This invitation only event is presented by the Eastern Nazarene Honors Society. Students who meet eligibility requirements for our full tuition Munro Scholarship are invited to this event by the Office of Admissions. As a potential Munro Scholarship candidate, you will be given unique opportunities to engage with the ENC community in a virtual space. Not only will you get to meet with a number of staff and faculty members, but you will also have the chance to interact with future classmates and hear from current Munro Scholars. The day will include a formal interview with a panel made up of our highly esteemed faculty and members of the President’s Cabinet to decide our Munro Scholarship winners. The day will also include informational programming surrounding student life on campus and our support services.

Please contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@enc.edu with any questions.
