Life threating emergencies, trauma, severe breathing difficulties, seizures, fainting, severe pain, etc. Below are the closest hospital emergency rooms.
An Urgent Care Center is a much more convenient experience and much less expensive than an Emergency Room. It provides walk-in services, without an appointment, for all except life-threatening emergencies.
Useful for minor respiratory and skin conditions.
Student’s own doctor – Many doctor’s offices have an “on call” physician that can be reached for advice when the office is closed. They can give advice to help decide whether the student needs to go to the ER now or if they can wait until the next day to be seen by a doctor.

Your own Health Insurance Nurse Line – Some insurance companies have a nurse available to call 24/7. Check the back of your insurance card for the number. Call and explain the situation, detail the symptoms, and the nurse will give advice about whether you should see a healthcare provider, go to the emergency room, or care for themselves at home. If you have the Cigna/Wellfleet, the ENC student health insurance plan, there is a 24-hour nurse line available at 1-800-634-7629.
