Outcomes
Upon completion of the BA in Education degree graduates will be able to:
- Develop well-structured lessons with challenging, measurable objectives and appropriate student engagement strategies, pacing, sequence, activities, materials, resources, technologies, and grouping.
- Organize and analyze results from a variety of assessments to determine progress toward intended outcomes and uses these findings to adjust practice and identify and/or implement appropriate differentiated interventions and enhancements for students.
- Use appropriate practices, including tiered instruction and scaffolds, to accommodate differences in learning styles, needs, interests, and levels of readiness, including those of students with disabilities and English language learners.
- Use rituals, routines, and appropriate responses that create and maintain a safe physical and intellectual environment where students take academic risks and most behaviors that interfere with learning are prevented.
- Effectively model and reinforce ways that students can master challenging material through effective effort, rather than having to depend on innate ability.
- Regularly reflect on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, both individually and with colleagues, and use insights gained to improve practice and student learning.

Distinctives
Quality teacher-preparation. ENC has a long-standing reputation for high-quality programming that produces well-prepared, caring teachers – both with school districts throughout the state and with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
SEI endorsement included. ENC’s degree requirements include DESE-approved coursework for the Sheltered English Immersion endorsement.
Complete pre-practicum and student teaching in your building. Students who already work in public schools can complete their required observation hours and student teaching in their own building with the permission of school leadership.
Take one course at a time. ENC designed this program structure specifically for working adults who balance multiple life responsibilities. By taking just one course at a time over a 6-week period, you can continue to manage your current obligations and still be a full-time student. Courses are available evenings, on weekends, or online.
Multiple entry options. The 6-week structure allows you to start the program when you are ready.
Generous transfer policy. ENC accepts up to 93 transfer credits from other accredited institutions. Request a transcript evaluation to see how your transfer credits could be applied to the degree requirements.
Transparent pricing structure. ENC’s tuition and fees are set low, in an affordable range that is competitive with state institutions. To ensure students understand their financial commitment, the pricing structure is simple to calculate without hidden costs. Financial aid is available. (This program meets the requirements for eligible students to apply for aid under the Massachusetts Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant.)
