Computational Sciences Program
Dr. Macko specializes in teaching general and introductory physical science courses. She strives to link her science-intensive courses with history, society, and Christian faith, and she is co-piloting a new course entitled “Science, Technology and Society”. She has participated in community science outreach for all ages around the world.
As founder and primary investigator of the ENC Laser Lab, Dr. Macko aims to explore the fundamental physics of photo-active thin-film materials for application in environmentally-safe, low-cost solar technologies. She has thus far co-authored four journal articles, one interdisciplinary study, one patent application, three invited talks and numerous conference presentations.
Before joining the ENC faculty in Fall 2014, Dr. Macko completed her doctoral research in the MIT lab of Prof. Vladimir Bulovic, which included fabrication of ultra-lightweight, flexible solar panels and device engineering of nano-thin multijunction photovoltaics. During her undergraduate and graduate studies, Dr. Macko received extensive training and classroom instruction in college-level science and engineering pedagogies.
Jill Macko lives with her husband, Peter and son, Luke in Watertown, MA and is a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
