Eastern Nazarene College Appoints Dr. Ian Slater as Vice President for Student Life

Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) President Jack Connell is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ian Slater as Vice President for Student Life, effective July 6, 2021. Dr. Slater is a graduate of Asbury University (B.A.), Geneva College (M.A.) and Azusa Pacific University (Ph.D. in higher education). He comes to ENC from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he served as Associate Dean of Student Engagement and Director of Enrollment Management.

As Vice President for Student Life, Slater will have responsibility for providing strategic leadership to all aspects of the student experience at ENC. President Connell stated: “Dr. Slater brings to this role outstanding professional and academic qualifications, great passion for Christian higher education, and a deep desire to develop environments in which students can thrive. His love for students is evident, and I am confident that his leadership here will help ENC continue to move forward in providing an enriching, transformative experience for our students.”

“I am truly honored and absolutely delighted to be a part of the ENC community. My driving passion in Christian higher education is to help campuses become places in which students can truly flourish, embracing all that God has for them. I believe deeply that God has a bold future for ENC and consider it a tremendous honor to be able to join into His plan,” Dr. Slater expressed.

Dr. Slater, his wife Rachel, and their three children, Theodore (6), Emmalyn (3) and Elliot (9 months), will be relocating to Quincy in July. Until then, Mr. Robert Benjamin, Vice President of Multicultural Affairs, will serve as Interim Vice President of Student Life.
