Biographical Notes
It is a privilege to work alongside driven students and faculty at an institution like Eastern Nazarene College that prioritizes both faith and the life of the mind. I have been at ENC since 2016 and teach courses in U.S. history, with an emphasis on U.S. religion and immigration. My book Open Hearts, Closed Doors: Immigration Reform and the Waning of Mainline Protestantism was published in 2021, and I have written a chapter on Baptists published in The Cambridge Companion to American Protestantism (2022) and an article in Southern Quarterly on the role of religion in the novels of Eudora Welty (2015). In my spare time, I enjoy walking my dog, caring for two cats, and exploring the Boston area with my wife.
