Eastern Nazarene College Awards 2024 Munro Scholarship Winners

Mar 18, 2024

QUINCY – Eastern Nazarene College is proud to award Laila Johnson, Camden Laymon, and Sadie Reed as the 2024 winners of the prestigious Munro Scholarship. Recipients of the Munro Scholarship are granted a full-tuition scholarship, the highest award offered, for their education.

The Munro Scholarship was founded in honor of the first Dean of the College, Bertha Munro. This scholarship was created to celebrate Munro’s dedication to the intersection of faith and education and incoming students who have demonstrated exceptional academic talent and scholarship are eligible for the award.

Applicants undergo a stringent application process outside of transcripts, including an interview. Qualifying students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher were invited to tour the campus in November for Munro Days and interview for the scholarship. Johnson, Laymon, and Reed were selected from a group of qualifying applicants due to their exceptional achievements.

Lailah Johnson

“My name is Lailah Johnson and I am from Senoia, Georgia. My favorite hobby in the whole wide world is playing volleyball which I committed to do at ENC! I am majoring in Biology on the pre-med track. My career goals involve becoming a doctor, more specifically a trauma surgeon. I am incredibly excited to meet friends, create new bonds, and strengthen my relationship with God at ENC. I can’t wait to explore Quincy and Boston and I am extremely blessed to have this opportunity!”

Sadie Reed

“Hello! My name is Sadie Reed, and I am from Harford County, Maryland. I recently obtained my cosmetology license, and through ENC, I hope to earn a business degree so that, when I have more experience in the salon, I can operate a salon for hair, nails, weddings, or event coordinating. In addition to earning a business degree, I also hope to minor in pre-law, learn more about the fundamentals of the world, assist others in their personal and professional lives, and, if the right circumstance arises, obtain a legal degree. In addition to cosmetology, I am strongly interested in literature, theater, and art. While I can accomplish all these aspirations anywhere. I am eager to attend ENC because it will allow me to engage with their lively church community, experience opportunities the Boston area has to offer, and, most importantly, be around people who can help me learn more about my heritage. Even though I do not like to step outside of my comfort zone, I am eager to explore ENC and am incredibly appreciative of the gift I have been provided.”

Camden Laymon

“My name is Camden Laymon and I am from San Marcos, California! I enjoy playing softball, reading, running with my sister, and hanging out with my friends and family.  I am planning on majoring in education and becoming an elementary school teacher! I am most excited about ENC because I get to play softball, get my education, and build my relationship with God and my peers! I am so excited for what is to come! Go Lions!”
