Eastern Nazarene College Announces New Director of Church Relations

Sep 7, 2022

Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) President Jack Connell is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John Nielson (‘89) as Director of Church Relations. Dr. Nielson serves as Assistant Professor of Practical Theology, is an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene, and is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College (B.A.) and Nazarene Theological Seminary (M.Div. and D. Min.) Prior to joining the ENC faculty in 2018, Dr. Nielson served as a local church pastor for 25 years.

As Director of Church Relations, Dr. Nielson will be responsible for developing and implementing the programs and services that will facilitate greater levels of engagement between ENC and its various church constituents. President Connell stated: “Dr. Nielson’s extensive pastoral experience and strong relational networks make him an ideal person for this critical role. ENC exists to serve the church, and I am confident that Dr. Nielson’s leadership will help us fulfill that mission more effectively.”

“As a former pastor, I am excited to serve in this new capacity that provides opportunities for ENC to connect with churches and pastors. I look forward to developing additional ways in which ENC and the church can partner together in the mission to which we are all called. This new opportunity is an expression of the vision of ENC’s Religion and Culture Program: ‘to be a community of thoughtful and creative Christian leaders who are prepared to live missionally anywhere in the world,'” Dr. Nielson expressed.

You are invited to contact Dr. Nielson at (617) 745-3526 or john.nielson@enc.edu.
