Celebrating alumni stories of family and love, during the month of February
Jesse and Krista Casler ’99
Brand new freshmen Jesse Casler ‘99 and Krista (White) Casler ‘99 had their first date over sundaes at Friendly’s. Their dates for the next four years usually looked more like student government meetings, supply runs for events, taking classes, and volunteer projects, but working and learning side by side only strengthened their romance. Jesse and Krista married after graduation and today live in Lancaster, PA with their sons Josiah and William.
Lindell and Karisa Pascall ’09
“Summer 2006 Karisa was an incoming freshman, and I was going into my sophomore year. I was on the Summer Ministry team visiting her church in Cape May. I tried to win her over by giving her one of those cool ENC t-shirts. While that did not originally work, we ended up dating 2 years later. We have been together for 13 years and married for 10! She’s my best friend and I am her biggest fan!”
Doug and Christina Desautell ’16
“We’ve been together since March 10, 2014! It seems like yesterday seeing Douglas around on our College campus and I always had the biggest crush! After my 5AM basketball practices, Douglas and I were both in the same 8AM class, Bible and The Current Perspectives. Douglas, of course, would always walk in right before his name was called by the professor, and I would whisper to my teammate Krystal: “isn’t he so handsome!” Then one day, it happened. Douglas noticed me while I was working and bagging fries in our schools dugout. I was in complete denial that he was looking at me, but bravely I smiled back. Then, next thing I knew, he’s walking up to me asking if I would be around for Spring Break. Our first date to Friendly’s down the street was magical! And many ice cream scoops later, we knew this adventure together would last a lifetime! We got married on August 30, 2019 and welcomed our sweet daughter, Colette Rose Desautell, into our world this December of 2020. She has truly been the most amazing and beautiful blessing in this crazy season. We currently reside in Quincy, MA, but will be relocating back to my hometown Palm Beach County, Florida at the end of February of 2021.
We are grateful that God brought us both together at ENC and for the memories we shared together on campus.”
Cody and Katie Cook ’20
“We met at Honors Weekend going into our freshman year of college at ENC. I remember seeing her and thinking, ”Wow, she’s pretty…and I also think that she is the daughter of my dad’s best friend from college.” I turned out to be right and the world turned out to be small, too. In fact, our dads lived together at ENC their first three years of college.
When I met Katie that weekend, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go to ENC quite yet, but meeting me finally convinced her that ENC was the only good choice (not really, but I like to think that). When we started our freshman year in the fall, Katie and I connected quickly. We went on our first date that Labor Day to the Museum of Fine Arts (students get free admission!). We dated all four years and got married less than two months after we graduated.
Now we live in downtown Boston. Katie works in the IT department as an Epic Analyst at Boston Children’s Hospital, and I am studying to be a dentist at Boston University School of Dental Medicine.
I am extremely grateful to ENC for providing me with something that is longer lasting (and more impactful) than a degree…a wife!”
Nate and Andrea Sawtelle ’01
We spent the first few years of our life in Kansas City, while I went to Seminary to get a Masters of Divinity, and then we moved to Hagerstown, MD, where I started my first job as a Youth Pastor and he got a job as an elementary teacher. We stayed there for almost 12 years. In 2013, we adopted our son, Biruk, from Ethiopia and in 2018, adopted our daughter Madhavi, from India. Biruk is 8 and Madi is 5. We also have a dog named Enzo! We moved to Quincy, MA almost 5 years ago so that I could be the Youth Pastor at the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene. I teach the Youth Ministry classes at ENC and Nate is the best stay at home Dad ever. We both are active on campus mentoring college students and staying involved as much as possible.”
