Quincy, MA – On Monday, January 16, Eastern Nazarene College will again join the nation in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day. ENC (Eastern Nazarene College) recognizes Christian higher education’s responsibility to achieve a more equitable and just society.
ENC will also host the annual Lecture on Religion, Race, and Culture as well as the campus-wide chapel service in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. This two-part event will begin with the lecture at 7:00 pm on January 18 in the Ruth Cameron Auditorium, which will feature internationally acclaimed speaker Dr. Drew Hart.
Hart, the author of Who Will Be a Witness: Igniting Activism for God’s Justice, Love, and Deliverance (2020), will speak on the role of activism in the face of white supremacy. Continuing celebrations will extend to the chapel service on January 19.
Dr. King once said, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” ENC is committed to furthering that goal by equipping diverse students to lead and serve our world as agents of Christ’s love and truth.
By celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, ENC recognizes that everyone is made in the image of God, that we listen to the voiced or silent cries of those in our communities, and that we will “… let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:24.)
