Dr. David Young Appointed Dean of the Chapel and College Chaplain

May 15, 2020

Dr. David Young has agreed to serve as ENC’s Dean of the Chapel and College Chaplain effective August 1. David served this past year as Assistant Professor of Biblical Literature. He is also an alum of ENC. After his undergraduate work, he went to Nazarene Theological Seminary and earned an MDiv. Last year, he graduated from Boston University with a PhD in New Testament. Before starting his work at BU, he pastored for six years in Clinton, Illinois. All through his academic training and time in pastoral ministry, David has been dedicated to bridging what he has learned as part of the academy and the church. David is a gifted preacher and teacher. He also has a pastoral heart that students have already seen in his teaching last year. In this blended position, David will have the opportunity to lead the Office of Spiritual Development and to engage students regularly both in chapel and in the classroom. Over the summer, David will assist Chaplain Lynne Bollinger with the transition and with preparation for the next academic year. ENC is confident that Dr. David Young will provide the leadership in the Office of Spiritual Development that is needed to build on the strong foundation that Lynne will be leaving us.
