This process in Eastern Nazarene College’s case is guided by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. ENC established formal teach-out partnerships with five schools along with a secondary list of approximately 30 more schools that were offering help…
As a new part of our newsletter, we are allowing our Alumni Director Matt Carpenter the opportunity to share some of his on-the-job experiences as well as speak directly to alumni.
After a few months back at ENC, I am beginning to grasp the job and re-engage with ENC Alumni all over the globe. One of the more satisfying aspects of being the Director of Alumni Relations is finding old friends and getting them back in communication with their ENC friends. I have had some memorable moments with several alums, some I knew, but others I was meeting for the first time.
One notable alum I connected with was from the Class of 1976, James L Carter, Jimmy Carter, to most of us, now a resident of the Roanoke, VA area. Jimmy Carter was an unforgettable character and one of those who made my time at ENC special. When I posted pics on Instagram/Facebook, I began to get requests from other alums to send them Jimmy’s contact info. Carter has now reconnected with several old ENC friends. JC had a highly successful career as a teacher, football coach, and Athletic Director, helping one of those teams to the state finals. Jimmy will be back at ENC for a visit soon. BTW: ENC will never give out or provide personal or private contact or other info from inquiries from outside or inside the ENC community. We do not sell alumni names or addresses. We will contact you if someone wants to correspond or call and let you know of the inquiry. You can then decide if you wish to be contacted.
The Alumni Association has had several alumni events over the past few months. Some have occurred at district assemblies and camps. We also had events at Fenway Park in Boston, PNC Park in Pittsburgh, and Camden Yards in Baltimore. Baltimore was a tremendous success with a great turnout. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful our time there was. While the Baltimore fans were thrilled with the slugfest, the few Sox fans were a bit down after the 15-10 trouncing at the hands of the Orioles.
We are planning other events in Illinois and Texas in the coming weeks. Next year we hope to have several more Alumni Meetings across the region and the country. Keep tuned for events close by in Massachusetts, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, and Florida in 2023.
The next Alumni Association Quarterly Zoom will take place on 9/24. ENC’s History & Heritage Saturday 9/24, 10:30 AM EST, with Dr. James Cameron, moderated by Dr. Donald Yerxa. Attendees will be able to ask Dr. Cameron questions about ENC’s history, the historic ENC campus, and other historically related questions. We are already getting a good response and hope to see you there.
The 4th Quarterly Zoom in December may be all about music as the June music zoom was not promoted enough, and we have had several inquiries about whether we’d be doing another music Zoom. Let me know what you think.
