Alumni Award Winners
Emerging Leader Award
Emerging Leader Awards are awarded to alumni who have graduated within the past 20 years and who evidence a developing pattern of Christian leadership through vocation and service while representing the essence of the ENC Ideal.
Frankie Bruny – Class of 2017
After graduating from ENC in 2017, Frankie relocated to Los Angeles, CA, to join the Episcopal Service Core and committed to a year of service where she was placed in a Therapeutic school to work with students who experience trauma in the foster care system and recovering from drug addiction.
After her service year, she remained at the school as an art teacher and teacher’s aide for high school students. Frankie then transitioned into social media management, where she began to work as a consultant for nonprofit organizations. During this time, she worked with various influencers and digital platforms such as “WeTheUrban” and Dominique Jackson of the FX show “POSE” on numerous issues within the African American community, specifically surrounding the HIV epidemic. With a love for faith, art, and justice, Frankie continues to take the lessons from ENC to learn further and work to help impact communities and advocate for those in the digital space.
Additionally, noteworthy work includes Frankie’s organizational contribution to the 2020 protest in response to George Floyd’s death, in which she managed the online community and helped organize details of the protest, all while being remote in Los Angeles. The Boston Herald featured her in a story for the advocacy work she did during the protests.
Alumni Achievement Award
Achievement Awards are given each year to alumni who consistently are modeling outstanding achievement in their professions, exemplifying service to the Kingdom of God, and whose lives are characterized by the essence of the ENC Ideal.
Dr. Michelle “Missy” Kindt – Class of 1992
Dr. Michelle (Missy) Kindt has 25 years of teaching experience in public education at both the middle and high school levels. Missy has developed a curriculum for both middle and high school French programs and works with language teachers all over the country, offering professional development for language acquisition and happy World Language classrooms, including locally in Quincy. She has recently earned her Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania.
Additionally, Missy has coordinated work & witness trips for both adults and teenagers to Ukraine, Romania, Brazil, the Bahamas, Montreal, and Haiti. Missy has served on the board of trustees for Eastern Nazarene College and has had the privilege of seeing her children, Megan and Nathan Kindt, graduate from ENC. She also assists in coordinating a food pantry and meals for ENC students during school vacations and the summer, primarily serving the international student population that can’t go home throughout the school year. Missy is proud of being a pastor’s wife for the past 30 years alongside her husband, Steve Kindt (’91).
Lifetime Service Award
Lifetime Service Awards are awarded to alumni who graduated more than 50 years ago and have evidenced a lifelong commitment to God and Alma Mater through service to Christ and the Kingdom while embodying the ENC Ideal.
Dr. Dorothy Tarrant – Honorary Alumna
Dorothy Tarrant has always had a passion for serving, using her capacity to teach language. Whether it be her first job out of college working at the European Nazarene Bible College as an office manager or her 30 years as faculty at Eastern Nazarene College teaching modern languages.
In her years at ENC, she wore many hats, serving as an advisor to international students, helping form what would become the Brickley Center at ENC, providing counseling to students, and teaching ESL students. In 1993, she traveled to Romania to start the Romanian Studies Program. This was initially a pilot program to give students and faculty the experience of teaching abroad in impoverished areas. Due to her love for teaching and her passion for education, she ended up staying in Romania for the next 23 years.
During her time in Romania, she also started the Veritas Sighisoara, an ecumenical Christian organization providing educational and social services to bring about positive change in the lives of people in Sighisoara. Because of her years of dedicated volunteer service, she was honored by the Queen of England in January 2022, receiving the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, a British honor of chivalry rewarding contributions to the arts, sciences, charitable work, and public service outside of civil service.
Alumnus of the Year Award
