ENC Announces George Floyd Memorial Scholarship

Jun 26, 2020

Eastern Nazarene College is pleased to announce the creation of the George Floyd Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Initiated by a generous donation by an alumnae, this donor-funded endowed scholarship is intended to assist students from under-served populations and to serve as a reminder of our ongoing call to racial justice.  The scholarship will continue our commitment to campus diversity as well as recognize and encourage the development of student leadership.

During the memorial service for George Floyd, Dr. Scott Hagan, president of North Central University, urged all colleges and universities across the nation to create a scholarship in Floyd’s name. A recording of Dr. Hagan’s comments can be seen here. The video of George Floyd’s death while in police custody has been a catalyst for significant calls to action to fight racial injustice.

In order to permanently endow this scholarship, a minimum of $25,000 must be raised. Visit our Giving website to give online.  To give by check, please make your check out to Eastern Nazarene College with George Floyd Memorial Scholarship in the memo line and send to 23 E Elm Avenue, Quincy, MA 02170.

Please reach out to the Development Office with any questions at development@enc.edu or (617)-745-3558.   Thank you for considering this opportunity to invest in our students.
