Eastern Nazarene College welcomed alumni and their families to campus for Homecoming from Sep. 28 through Oct. 1, 2023. The fall weekend saw activities for alumni and their families, as well as the inauguration of incoming President Colleen Derr, Ed.D.
The weekend began on Thursday with Homecoming Chapel, led by this year’s Emerging Leader Award recipient, Jonni Parsons (’18). Later that day, the Munro Society gathered in the President’s Dining Room for dinner, followed by an open invitation to Late Night Remix, a worship service held in Wollaston Church of the Nazarene.
Friday morning gave alumni an opportunity to sit in and observe current undergraduate classes and explore the campus. That afternoon in Wollaston Church of the Nazarene, the College welcomed its 15th president, Dr. Colleen Derr, with an inauguration ceremony. Alumni were given an opportunity to meet Dr. Derr Friday evening at the ENC Society Presidential Reception and Celebration Dinner at the Marriott Boston-Quincy. The Student Government Association carried the Lions spirit into the late night as they threw their annual Homecoming Dance.
Saturday’s events began with the Hall of Fame breakfast, honoring Tricia (Bradley) Seymour (’92), Jill (Caldwell) Dean (’92), John Furey (’84), and Charles Magee (’85), alongside the 1977-78 Women’s Basketball team. These individuals were inducted into the Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame to recognize their athletic achievements at Eastern Nazarene College. Alumni were also welcome to attend the Legacy Reunion in the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene, held concurrently. Reunions for years ending in three or eight began at 10:00 a.m. around campus.
The Women’s Soccer team took on SUNY Polytechnic Institute later that day at Creedon Field in Quincy, where they fell 3-0 to the Wildcats. The Homecoming Street Fair was held alongside the games at Creedon Field, featuring clubs selling baked goods to raise funds, games for all ages, and staff members taking pies to the face. Following the Women’s Soccer game, Men’s Soccer faced the Wildcats and lost 1-0. Later that evening, the Women’s Volleyball team took on Wellesley, before ultimately defeating the Blue 3-2 in an exhilarating five-set match. All ‘90s alumni were invited to gather on the Dugout Patio that evening.
Homecoming weekend concluded on Sunday morning with the President’s Prayer Breakfast with President Derr, held in the President’s Dining Room.
Homecoming is a beloved College tradition, and ENC is honored to welcome back our alumni and their families and celebrate their accomplishments. Be sure to join us for next year’s events.

Emerging Leader Awards are awarded to alumni who have graduated within the past 20 years and who evidence a developing pattern of Christian leadership through vocation and service while representing the essence of the ENC Ideal.
Jonni Nicole Parsons is an author, influencer, and founder of the digital marketing company Sunday Morning Marketing. Starting her business from her ENC dorm room, Parsons has helped numerous businesses with their marketing strategy. She has developed a large following on her social media with her faith based posts. In 2022, she published Ignited: A Fresh Approach to Getting–and Staying–on Fire for God, a book where she illustrates how to stay and remain on fire for God inspired by her own personal walk with God.
Achievement Awards are given each year to alumni who consistently are modeling outstanding achievement in their professions, exemplifying service to the Kingdom of God, and whose lives are characterized by the essence of the ENC Ideal.
Dr. Arthur F. Seamans has taught for over 20 years in Nazarene higher education at Northwest Nazarene University, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Point Loma Nazarene University. He holds a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from Point Loma Nazarene University. Seamans has authored multiple books in poetry and theology, he has used his book publishing to share his faith, his experience with blindness, and his expertise in teaching with other educators. Seamans has lead multiple literary retreats throughout the country, including for the Tamarack writers who meet for a week at the Adirondacks yearly.
Alumnus of the Year Awards are given each year to individuals who, over many years, have lived exemplary lives through significant career achievement, support of Eastern Nazarene College, service to the kingdom of God and the embodiment of the ENC Ideal.
Linda Russell taught for 17 years in the Meridian School District in Idaho after gradating from ENC. In 1995, she took time off from teaching to be a part of the Nazarene in
Volunteer Service ministry in Moscow, Russia. She would go on on to work in overseas ministries for over 25 years assisting with work and witness teams and teaching English courses to foreign students, and coordinating vacation bible school programs.
2023 Caroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame Inductees
We would like to extend our congratulations to this year’s Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame Inductees. A total of 51 individuals and eight teams have been inducted into the Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame since its inception in 1994. The inductees will be honored at the Alumni Celebration Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30 at the Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame brunch held at the Tirrell Room in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Tricia (Bradley) Seymour (’92) was a four-year member of the ENC Women’s Volleyball program from 1988 to 1991. She helped lead the Crusaders to three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances. During her four-year career, Eastern Nazarene racked up a staggering 135-18 record.
Jill (Caldwell) Dean (’92) was a four-year member of the ENC Women’s Volleyball program from 1988 to 1991. She helped lead the Crusaders to three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances. During her four-year career, Eastern Nazarene racked up a staggering 135-18 record.
John Furey (’84) was a four-year member of the ENC Men’s Cross Country Team from 1980 to 1983. He finished first in 10 races throughout his collegiate career. He was a four-time Seaboard Conference All-Star, three-time Seaboard Conference runner-up and claimed the Seaboard Conference crown as a junior before finishing 12th at the NCCAA National Championship meet.
After graduating from Eastern Nazarene College, Fury went on to coach cross country at the collegiate level. He held head coaching positions at Eastern Nazarene, Emerson, and is currently in his fifth season as the head cross country coach at Quincy College. As a collegiate cross country coach, Fury guided teams to two NAIA regional runner-up finishes and five conference titles.
Charles Magee (’85) was a four-year member of the Crusaders’ men’s basketball team from 1981 to 1985. At the conclusion of his collegiate career, he ranked eighth in program history with 1,476 career points and currently ranks 11th on the program’s all-time scoring list. As a senior, Magee was named a Colonial Conference All-Star and NAIA All-Star.
The 1977-78 Eastern Nazarene Women’s Basketball Team posted an impressive 16-1 overall record with an undefeated record in regular season action. The Crusaders claimed the MAIAW State Tournament title and reached the semifinals of the WCIA Tournament.
