Living on campus in the residence halls at ENC can be a powerful experience for students as they navigate college life. ENC’s approach to Residential Life encourages students to make healthy choices academically, mentally, spiritually, socially, and physically. Our team of dedicated Residential Life staff cares deeply about their residents. We consider it a privilege to walk alongside students through the ups and downs of increasingly independent living.
Room Amenities
Each student will have a twin bed and mattress, a desk and chair, a wardrobe or dresser, and a trash can. All rooms have wall-mounted lighting and each room is painted off-white. Each room is also wired for internet services. All have wireless internet access. The cost of these services is included in room and board charges.
Laundry Facilities
Each residence hall is equipped with laundry facilities. The machines are free to be used by all residential ENC students. Students need to only bring their own detergent. Washers and dryers are being equipped with online access so that students can check machine availability from their rooms.
Staffing
There is one Resident Assistant (RA) on each floor in each residence hall. An RA is an undergraduate student hired by the Residential Life Office through a competitive selection process. RAs work with their residents to foster a thriving community by developing personal relationships with their residents, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, and gathering students together for community-building activities.
Each residence hall also has a Residence Director who serves and resides in their respective building under the guidance of the Director of Residential Life. The Resident Directors work closely with the RA staff in their building to ensure that their building and residents are well maintained.
Meal Plans
All residential students are required to be on the institutional meal plan. Sodexo provides all dining services at Eastern Nazarene College. The Dining Hall is located in the Mann Student Center, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served daily. On the weekends, brunch and dinner are served. For more information, visit our dining services page.

All residence halls have laundry rooms with washer and dryers that are connected to a laundry system allowing students to check how much time is left on their load, see when the next load is finished, and even get alerts when their load is completed. Check out this great new feature for yourself at laundry.enc.edu.
Memorial and Shields Halls are two of our male residence halls. Memorial Hall is named in honor of those who served and died in the Second World War. Memorial Hall houses male upperclassmen in both single and double occupancy room. Shields Hall, named in honor of the first president of Eastern Nazarene College Frederick James Shields, provides housing for male freshmen in rooms that are primarily double occupancy. Each floor in both buildings shares a community bathroom and lounge area. The Underground is a 24-hour common area for male and female students to socialize.
Munro Hall is one of the campuses’ original buildings and is named for the first Dean of Students, Bertha Munro. Munro Hall houses female upperclassmen in both single and double occupancy rooms. There are two shared bathrooms and one lounge for each floor. Munro Parlor is a 24-hour common area for male and female students to socialize.
Spangenberg & Williamson Halls are named for Alice Spangenberg and Esther Williamson, distinguished long-time professors of English and Music at Eastern Nazarene College. Four floors of “Spange & Willy” house female freshmen, and the other four floors house upperclassman females in rooms that are primarily double occupancy. There is a shared bathroom and lounge for each floor. Spange Parlor is a 24-hour common area for male and female students to socialize and is equipped with a full kitchen, a movie room, a computer room, and a lounge and dining area.
Young Hall was named for ENC President Samuel Young and houses upperclassmen males and females in 4-person suites on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors. The suites come standard with a private bathroom, kitchen area with built-in sink, air conditioning unit, common room, and two double-occupancy bedrooms. Each floor also has a common lounge for residents. The 1st and 2nd floors of Young Hall are reserved for staff housing, and handicap-accessible suites.
All Residence Halls are alcohol, drug, and smoke-free.

Every new student will need to complete the Housing & Commuter Application to let us know whether they intend to live on or off campus. This can be accessed through a link in the ENC Student Portal. It is important that students complete the appropriate application in a timely manner so that their student account is billed accurately.
Students will be able to use our housing program to select their own roommate until late June. After that time, the ENC housing office will match roommates based on application responses. Students that have completed their Housing Application will be assigned rooms the first week of July. Throughout the rest of the summer, room and roommate assignments will be made as applications are submitted. Students will be notified by ENC email after they are placed. Any questions or requests can be emailed to housing@enc.edu.
New Students receive an email over the summer with their roommate information, building, and room assignment, as well as important welcome information. Additional email are sent in August that designate a specific move-in time. It is crucial for students to arrive during their designated time so that Student Life is prepared to assist with the move in process. Students who arrive late may not be able to visit the necessary departments required to complete check-in.
Students must check the approved items list to ensure that they are bringing those items that are permitted in the residence halls.
Our office is located in the Mann Student Center next to the mail room and open Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are permitted to register a car on campus. For more information visit the Campus Security page.
All out of state student drivers with cars on campus, even those without a campus parking permit, are required by law to register their vehicles with the state. The forms for this free out-of-state-parking sticker can be found in the Security Office. Out-of-state cars without the Massachusetts parking sticker fill be fine by the state and by the school.
Fall 2023
Spring 2024
Yes, the residence halls are closed during winter break, and there will be no access to the halls until they reopen in February. Residence halls close Nov 24th, but will be available through 5pm Thursday, December 4th, 2020 by application.
Residence Halls close on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 5:00pm for non-graduates. Graduating seniors or those participating in graduation will need to be moved out by Sunday May 16th at 3:00pm. Please be mindful that it is expected that dorm rooms/suites are to be left in the same condition as they were found during move in.
All dorm rooms should be cleaned and emptied of all personal belongings, trash, and decorations. Students will be charged for any items remaining in their room and a separate cleaning fee will be charged should a room be left uncleaned. Before students leave, they must check out with their Resident Assistant and return their key to Student Life.
To find a list of everything that students are able to bring and those things that are not allowed in the Residence Halls, students should read the Student Handbook, or check our quick list on What to Bring and not Bring to College at ENC.
The first thing a student should do is talk to their roommate(s) about what has been bothering them. If that hasn’t worked, the student should talk to their RA. He/she can sit down with both roommates and help come up with a reasonable solution. If the roommates are still unable to reach a compromise, the students and their RA should contact the Residence Director (RD). He or she has access to other resources that can help find a resolution.
Students are responsible to report any faulty plumbing, electrical failures, or similar matters requiring immediate attention to their RA, RD, or Student Life Office. Residents should not contact Facilities management independently.
