Biographical Notes
It is a privilege to work alongside driven students and faculty at an institution like Eastern Nazarene College that prioritizes both faith and the life of the mind. I have been at ENC since 2016 and teach courses in U.S. history, with an emphasis in U.S. religion and immigration. I also teach American government and world political geography. My graduate work was completed in 2017 when I defended my doctoral dissertation at Baylor University on the topic of American Protestant responses to immigrants and refugees during the twentieth century. I have several entries included in the Encyclopedia of Religion and Politics in America (2016) and an article published in Southern Quarterly on the role of religion in the novels of Eudora Welty. I am also the editor of a volume of essays on Texas Baptists during the Civil War that is under contract with Louisiana State University Press. In my spare time, I enjoy walking my dog, Tilly, down to the beach, reading early twentieth-century fiction, and exploring the Boston area.
