Dr. Nancy Detwiler
- Dr. Detwiler taught and coached from 1963-2015. She served as head of the Physical Education Department where she developed majors in teaching and sports management. As chair for Social Sciences Division, she aided in development of curriculum and faculty assessment. Her research papers which were presented at the Olympic Scientific Congress focused on how emotional involvement has been significantly related to achievement in the teaching-learning process. In addition to pioneering women’s athletics, Dr. Detwiler has served as Athletics Director (1976-2015) becoming one of the first females to direct a co-ed program. In 1991, she was inducted into the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) Hall of Fame. She has many coaching honors for her outstanding volleyball record (505-179). She was inducted into the ENC Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame and has been presented the Eastern Nazarene College Alumna of the year Award.
