Romeo and Juliet
Published: March 18, 2019
The classic tale of star-crossed lovers by William Shakespeare comes to ENC. Taking as its concept that Romeo and Juliet could be teenagers in any urban environment where old money and new money collide, we bring Verona into the modern era where the city could be Boston’s Commonwealth Ave. or New York’s Upper East Side. A series of events lead to the meeting of young Romeo and Juliet, each a member of the feuding families Capulet and Montague. Their ultimate desire to be married becomes a series of terrible circumstances and tragic decisions, which end in the deaths of both young people. The horrific deaths ultimately cause the two families to resolve their differences, but the price for peace was the loss of Romeo and Juliet.
