Biographical Notes
- Dr. LaFountain has taught in Eastern Nazarene’s Adult Studies program since 1997, and full-time in the undergraduate program since 2003. He has also been a corporate and hospital chaplain and served 11 years as senior pastor of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in Pawtucket, Rhode Island from 1997 to 2008. Professor LaFountain recently received his ThD degree in Theology from Boston University having successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Narratives of Holiness Identity: The ‘Sanctified Person’ in the Church of the Nazarene” in June 2010. Dr. LaFountain’s interests are in Wesleyan confessional theology, narrative theology, post-Liberal theology, theological ethics, cognitive science and sociology of knowledge. He lives in Attleboro, MA with his wife, Rhodora. He has three children, Philip Jr., an electrical engineer, Timothy, an IT specialist, and Heather, an elementary education teacher.
