Izirlei has considerable industry and academic experience. As a student at ENC, he was active in all aspects of ENC life. He was President of the Physics and Engineering Club, and also lab instructor and teacher assistant for several engineering courses. His research interests are in the area of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV), control systems, and signal processing. He lives in Quincy with his wife and kids.
