“I just wanted to be heard – maybe they did too.”
After a successful weekend and three encore performances due to popular demand in February of 2015, the original play The Bible Women’s Project will return to the Cove stage at 7:30pm September 11-12, 2015. Created by Eastern Nazarene College theatre producer and director Tara Brooke Watkins (02), the show explores stories of Old and New Testament women as seen through the eyes of current ENC women students. The play uses scenes, monologues, dance and song to compare contemporary women’s stories to those of women in the Bible.
“All the contemporary stories in the play are true and all of the dances and songs are completely original,” Watkins said. “The final product has become a story about today’s young Christian women learning about the women from the Bible.”
The original piece opened February 19-21, 2015 and received a strong demand, resulting in an encore weekend February 27-28. All performances featured a talk-back with the cast and crew to engage in dialogue and questions with the audience. It was through these discussions that the encore performances came to be.
Tickets will go on sale this summer; to read more, visit the February news story.
