Report names Eastern No. 2 Best Small College in Massachusetts

Eastern Nazarene College has been named #2 Best Small College in Massachusetts by Zippia.com. Eastern’s low cost and low admissions rate combined with the school’s high graduation rate, helped earn the number two spot.

After looking at looking at 32 different institutions of higher education in Massachusetts, with enrollment of less than 2,000 students, various factors were considered to determine the ranking. Zippia researches used data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and from College Scorecard data from ED.gov, Zippia.com was able to compile the list by looking at career results and school performance.

In order to determine career results, Zippia.com calculated the average earnings after 6 and 10 years post-graduation. They also looked at the ratio of graduates who were employed to those not employed after 10 years post-graduation.

The factors used to determine each schools’ performance included admissions rate, graduation rate, average cost of attendance and average amount of debt were the factors used to determine each school’s performance. A more selective the admissions rate and a lower average cost of attendance led to higher rankings.

Amherst College, Babson College, and Massachusetts Maritime Academy also made the list.
