94th Commencement Exercises – May 6-7, 2016

Eastern Nazarene College will hold its spring commencement exercises on the college’s front lawn at 2:30pm on Saturday May 7, when graduates will receive associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Guest speaker at this year’s commencement will be Dr Daniel Copp. The college will also hold a Baccalaureate service for graduates and families on May 6 at 7:00pm at the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene. Directions – East Elm Campus and Old Colony Campuses

Parking space is limited surrounding the college, so please plan for extra time. Additional parking will be provided on May 7 at the Old Colony Campusand a shuttle service will be provided beginning at 12:00pm until the start of the ceremony, and will run following the ceremony as needed.

Guest Speaker Bio
Dr. Daniel Copp was elected as education commissioner for the Church of the Nazarene in September 2011. As education commissioner, Dr. Copp works closely with the Board of General Superintendents, the General Board, the International Board of Education and Regional Leadership “to serve Nazarene educational institutions worldwide and to encourage them to be all they can be in quality, achievement and service to Christ.”

Dr. Copp was a member of the board of trustees for Point Loma Nazarene University for 18 years, including five years as board chair. He has been a guest lecturer for many International Board of Education schools, and adjunct faculty for the doctor of ministry program at Nazarene Theological Seminary – Kansas City. Dr. Copp has served on various boards in the Church of the Nazarene, including district advisory boards, the general board, the International Board of Education, and the International Course of Study Advisory Committee. Dr. Copp has contributed to various periodicals and publications, including: The Hunger of The Heart, edited by Wesley Tracy; and Maps & Models for Ministry,edited by David Whitelaw.

Dr. Copp is a magna cum laude graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City and Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. He received the Bachelor of Arts degree in History/Political Science from Point Loma Nazarene University in 1977, where he was elected student body president his senior year. He received the Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1983, where he was selected by the faculty as the 1983 recipient of the “W.T. Corlett Holiness Sermon Award” for outstanding senior preacher. He received the Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1997, where his final project was selected for use as an example of excellence for future final project tutorials.
