Eastern Nazarene College, a fully accredited Christian liberal arts college on Boston’s south shore, is seeking a Residence Director/Coordinator of Student Conduct to support the mission, values and purposes of Eastern Nazarene College by overseeing a residence hall of approximately 200 students and is responsible for administering the student conduct process for students alleged to have violated college polices under the direction of the Dean of Students. This position serves as a champion for student success, growth, well-being and belonging.

Residence Director (50%)
- Serves as a champion for students in their educational journey; focuses on building a living environment and climate that promotes well-being, growth, success and belonging.
- Responsible for administrative oversight, management and operation of a multi-class year, traditional style, residence area of campus
- Leads, supervises, and assesses the execution of the residential curriculum in the hall. This includes collaborating with Spiritual Life to provide encourage faith development and supporting educational programming sponsored by Resident Assistants.
- Supervises, develops and trains 6-8 paraprofessional staff members.
- Oversees the physical maintenance of the residence area and communicates needs to Facilities.
- Familiarizes self with the students in the area and shows concern for each resident’s welfare. Advises and refers students to appropriate campus services, follows up with students as requested by the Student Support Team.
- Maintains an active presence in the residence hall, including attending Resident Assistant events & programs.
- Serves as a critical leader in fostering a campus culture in which differences are embraced and works to advance the College’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Interprets and enforces college policies; facilitates roommate mediations
- Participates in an on-call rotation, respond to emergencies and assist para-professional staff & security as needed
- Assists with the execution of all departmental processes including, but not limited to, Housing Selection, Resident Assistant recruitment, selection, and training.
- Attends and participates in staff training & development. Assists with the facilitation as requested.
- Participates as a supportive member of the College community in campus-wide activities including, but not limited to, preview/accepted student days, new student orientation, convocation, commencement, chapel and athletic events.
- Enhances communication between the Residential Life & Housing department and other campus offices through regular interaction and formal interdepartmental meetings.
Conduct Administration (50%)
- Executes policies and procedures that guide the student conduct process ensuring fairness, grace, and consistency.
- Receives and reviews incident reports submitted to determine appropriate action.
- Meets with and serves as a hearing officer for students who have allegedly violated college policies.
- Maintains efficient reporting processes, the student conduct database and files on all disciplinary cases and reports.
- Tracks all sanctions and sanction compliance.
- Seeks and provides educational resources for students found responsible for conduct violations to ensure students are learning from their student conduct experiences
- Coordinate prevention initiatives to address frequent conduct violations
- Responsible for the communication and marketing of student conduct policies, procedures, and services
- Re-establish, recruit, select and train the Student Conduct Hearing Board
- Assists the Dean of Students with ENC Cares (sexual and domestic violence) education and prevention efforts
- Manages background check request from transfer or graduate schools and employers for current and former students
- Provides trainings and presentations related to student conduct policies, processes, and procedures
- Remains current on legal, regulatory, and trending issues in higher education related to student conduct practices.
- Recommends and assists with revisions of the student handbook as necessary to remain consistent with the law, university policy, and national benchmarking standards.
- Engages in systematic research and assessment to identify trends in student conduct as well as improvements to program effectiveness and student success.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Life and/or the Dean of Students
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Supervision, programming and student development experience in Housing and Residence Life preferred.
- 1-2 years of professional experience preferred.
- Must have outstanding oral and written communication skills along with ability to both prioritize and multi-task.
