Eastern Nazarene College, a fully accredited Christian liberal arts college on Boston’s south shore, is seeking a Residence Director and Housing Coordinator (Graduate and Partnership Housing) to support the mission, values and purposes of Eastern Nazarene College by overseeing an apartment-style residence hall of approximately 100 students, as well as overseeing graduate housing (40) and non-student rental housing (40). This position serves as a champion for student and community success, growth, well-being and belonging.

*Position includes on-campus housing, utilities and meal plan

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Residence Director (50%)

Serves as a champion for students in their educational journey; focuses on building a living environment and climate that promotes well-being, growth, success and belonging
Responsible for administrative oversight, management and operation of a multi-class year, apartment style, residence area of campus. Supervises, develops and trains 6-8 paraprofessional staff members
Leads, supervises, and assesses the execution of the residential curriculum in the hall. This includes attending events sponsored by Resident Assistants and collaborates with Spiritual Life to provide opportunities for faith development.
Oversees the physical maintenance of the residence area and communicates needs to Facilities
Familiarizes self with the students in the area and shows concern for each resident’s welfare. Advises and refers students to appropriate campus services, follows up with students as requested by the Student Support Team
Maintains an active presence in the residence hall, including attending Resident Assistant events & programs
Serves as a critical leader in fostering a campus culture in which differences are embraced and works to advance the College’s commitment to diversity and inclusion
Interprets and enforces college policies; facilitates roommate mediations
Participates in an on-call rotation, respond to emergencies and assist para-professional staff & security as needed
Assists with the execution of all departmental processes including, but not limited to, Housing Selection, Resident Assistant recruitment, selection, and training
Attends and participates in staff training & development. Assists with the facilitation as requested
Participates as a supportive member of the College community in campus-wide activities including, but not limited to, preview/accepted student days, new student orientation, convocation, commencement, chapel and athletic events
Enhances communication between the Residential Life & Housing department and other campus offices through regular interaction and formal interdepartmental meetings

Rental Property Manager (50%)

Responsible for administrative oversight, management and operations of Munro Hall, a building housing both graduate students and tenants through an ENC partnership program (mostly students at other colleges)
Communicates with prospective and current tenants
Collects rent and other property fees from tenants
Meet potential tenants, show the property, and assess their applications in accordance with anti-discrimination laws.
Investigates and resolves property complaints and rental violations.
Enforces the policies and procedures in tenancy agreements and strictly enforces violations.
Serves important information, violations and warnings to residents
Completes routine inspections of apartments and common areas and reports maintenance needs to facilities.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Life and Housing or Vice-President of Student Life

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A bachelor’s degree is required.
Supervision, programming and experience in Housing and Residence Life preferred.
1-2 years of professional experience preferred.
Must have outstanding oral and written communication skills along with ability to both prioritize and multi-task.
Strong and vibrant faith that connects to the mission of the college.
Demonstrated cultural competence, cultural humility, and experience with diverse and international populations.
Experience with rentals and tenancy highly valued.
Commitment to supporting student success, growth, well-being and belonging required.
