Teacher’s Aide

Eastern Nazarene College, a fully accredited Christian liberal arts college on Boston’s south shore, is seeking a part-time Teacher’s Aide (up to 29 hours per week) for Campus Kinder Haus (CKH), an early childhood center serving families in the South Shore and Boston areas as well as the college community.  CKH Teacher’s Aides work with Lead Teachers and students for the school year.

CKH is a laboratory pre-school and implements a holistic approach to developmental education.  In addition to its regular staff, Campus Kinder Haus employs and mentors college students studying education at Eastern Nazarene College.

Part-Time Hourly Staff

  • Be on time: In order for the classroom to run smoothly, aides need to be on time and ready to relieve the previous aide at the scheduled time.  This creates a seamless transition for children, teachers, and aides.
  • You are responsible for finding your own substitute: Because of the volume of aides at CKH, each aide is responsible for finding his/her own substitute BEFORE the scheduled shift. Please inform the Director that you will be absent and who is subbing for you.
  • CKH Policies: Each aide must review the handbook as well as the health care policy and will be responsible for upholding these policies and following these specific procedures.
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in daily routines: including setting up/cleaning up projects, cleaning tables and floors to maintain a clean and safe environment for all, assisting children with snacks/lunch, reading stories, and supervision of children at the bathroom and on playground.
  • Interacting with children: playing in small groups, reading, creating appropriate conversation, and sitting with children at snack/lunch time.
  • Direct Supervision: No aide may be alone with a child.  Each aide must be under the direct supervision of their classroom teacher.
  • Orientation: All teachers’ aides are required to attend an orientation meeting during the first week of school and a mid-year aide meeting, as well as other aide meetings the Director finds necessary to schedule.
  • This is an ACTIVE job: Working with children is a demanding responsibility.  There is always something that can be done to assist in the running of a classroom.  Please be pro-active in assisting the classroom teacher and come to CKH prepared to work!

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Some experience with children is required, babysitting, church Sunday school, high school Early Childhood program etc.
  • Two references, one may be a written reference.
  • Documentation that your physical and immunizations are on file in the Director’s office.
  • Completion of a CORI (a criminal investigation report), returned to the Director, reviewed and approved by the Director.
  • Ability to communicate with young children, take dictations from children, assist in activities, and work with small groups of children on activities and games the teacher provides.

Until Filled

Please submit your resume, along with a cover letter, and provide a statement of faith – a statement of your Christian experience, including how your christian commitment models the mission and values of Eastern Nazarene College and your church affiliation and involvement.
