Assistant Director – Campus Kinder Haus (Early Childhood Center)
Eastern Nazarene College, a four-year Christian liberal arts college on Boston’s south shore, is seeking an Assistant Director for Campus Kinder Haus (CKH), an early childhood center serving families in the South Shore and Boston areas as well as the college community. The center implements a holistic approach to developmental education, and is a laboratory pre-school. In addition to its regular staff, Campus Kinder Haus employs and mentors college students studying education at Eastern Nazarene College.
The Assistant Director will:
- Work with CKH staff, students and families to create and maintain a positive learning environment and deliver exceptional customer service to families enrolled at the school.
- Assist the Director in operating the center in accordance with EEC and NAEYC policies, procedures and state licensing standards to provide an educational, nurturing, and safe environment for children, staff and parents; and
- Assume responsibility for all school operations and all Director responsibilities and duties in the absence of the Director.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, a love for children and a strong commitment to education. Must be EEC qualified.

- Assist the Director
- with planning, managing, marketing, and directing a preschool
- by assisting teachers with managing behavior concerns
- by ordering and keeping inventory of school supplies
- with billing
- with bi-weekly payroll
- by accepting responsibility in other daily center duties in the event other personnel are not available
- Help maintain licensing regulations and prepare for annual visits
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, center events, and parent/customer meetings as requested
- Comply with, and may implement, EEC regulations regarding the care of children
- Conduct tours and provide interested families with information about our program
- Input child data in EZCare2 System and print reports as needed
- Collaborate with the Director regarding any necessary information on the care and safety of children
- Supervise and evaluate teachers, provide mentoring and training to help teachers improve their skills
- In collaboration with the Director, supervise closing staff and ensure building is secure at the end of each day
- Work with the Director and teachers to establish, evaluate, and revise curriculum.
- Assume responsibility for operation of the center in the absence of the Director
- Work with all other staff members in a collaborative manner.
- Follow personnel policies of Eastern Nazarene College.
- Promptly report issues involving specific children or room management to the Director.
- Complete 20 hours of training for Department of Early Education and Care, including 5 hours of Special Education Training.
- Attend staff meetings (two hours each month) afterschool and/or evening meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education
- EEC qualified; experience and training for the designation of Director II under the MA Early Education and Care specifications
- Current certification in American Red Cross, First Aid and CPR
- Possess high value and appreciation for the Church of the Nazarene and a thoughtful understanding of the Wesleyan Holiness tradition
- A committed Christian faith evident in daily life, and support for the mission and educational philosophy of the College
