History Lecture Series with Jonathan Walton, April 13

The ENC History Department will present a free lecture at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 on the history of the African American religious recording industry.
To be held in Shrader Lecture Hall, the lecture will be presented by Jonathan Walton, assistant professor of African American Religions at Harvard Divinity School. The author of Watch This! The Ethics and Aesthetics of African American Religious Broadcasting, Walton will discuss the history of the religious “race” recording industry and the competing ethical values of black Christian communities in the 1920s and 1930s.
Walton’s lecture is part of ENC’s History Department Lecture Series.
