Grammy Award-winning Jars of Clay to perform at ENC
Published: February 25, 2011
One of contemporary Christian music’s most widely acclaimed bands, Grammy Award-winning Jars of Clay, will perform this spring at Eastern Nazarene College.
This performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 3 in ENC’s Lahue Physical Education Center. The concert will feature songs from Jars of Clay’s newest album, The Shelter, which was released last fall. Artists Matt Maher, Audrey Assad, and Derek Webb also will perform.
“It’s rare for a small school like Eastern Nazarene College to get a tier one band like Jars of Clay to perform on campus,” said Vice President for Spiritual Development Corey MacPherson, who credited the efforts of ENC student Grace Kabemba and the college’s Student Government Association for convincing the band to add an ENC concert to its current tour.
“We’re pleased to be able to present a quality concert for our students and the community,” he added.
Founded in 1993 by four friends at Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois, Jars of Clay has amassed an array of music honors, including three Grammy Awards, numerous GMA Dove Awards, and 17 number one radio hits for Christian/Gospel music.
The group takes its name from 2 Corinthians 4:7: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”
Tickets for the concert are $15 for the general public and $10 for ENC students, faculty, and staff. Tickets can be purchased online at www.enc.edu/jars-of-clay.
