On November 15-18, Professor Jonathan Twining (Biology) was invited to be the keynote speaker at the joint meetings of the Idaho Herpetological Society, the Northwest Partners for Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, and the NNU Herpetology Lab at Northwestern Nazarene University. Professor Twining spoke to students, herpetologists, and reptile enthusiasts about the topic “Beside Still Waters: The Natural History of Vernal Pools in the Northeastern US”. In addition to speaking at the annual meeting, Twining also spent time exploring the potential for collaboration between the biology departments at ENC and NNU, including the possibilities of student trips to Costa Rica with Dr. Cossel, and also participation in research on the Idaho giant salamander in Northern Idaho over the 2014 summer. Twining said, “I believe many good things came out of this trip, and I am looking forward to working with Dr. Cossel in the near future on joint projects that will benefit our students”.
