Published: March 9, 2021

Quincy, MA – Eastern Nazarene College President Jack Connell is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Bill McCoy as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, effective immediately. Dr. McCoy’s appointment follows a national search and comes after his successful tenure as ENC’s Interim Academic Dean during the 2020-21 academic year.

“Dr. McCoy is a person of deep commitment to Christ and to the mission of Eastern Nazarene College, and I am confident he will serve our faculty, our students and our entire community with excellence,” said President Connell. “During his year as Interim Dean, he skillfully guided our faculty through the many challenges of the pandemic and simultaneously completed the self-study for our decennial reaccreditation. These accomplishments are a tribute to his administrative skills, expertise, and perseverance, and I look forward to his long-term leadership of the academic enterprise here at ENC.”

Dr. McCoy has been a member of the history faculty at ENC since 2005 and has served in many administrative capacities as well, including Chair of the History Department, Chair of the Division of General Education, and Director of the Honors Scholar Society. He has also been instrumental in the launch of ENC’s first fully online programs. Dr. McCoy holds a B.A. in History from Point Loma Nazarene University, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in African History from Boston University. He resides in Quincy with his wife and two children.

“It has been a privilege serving in the role of Interim Academic Dean this year, and I’m humbled by the trust that has been placed in me with this assignment. Even in these tumultuous days, the mission of ENC remains as transformative as it has ever been, and I am eager to work with all those who love ENC as I do to help translate that mission into its next phase. I look forward to seeing the evidence of God’s faithfulness in the coming days,” Dr. McCoy expressed.
