David P. Bergers Appointed Vice President of External Relations and General Counsel
Published: February 28, 2020
Eastern Nazarene College announced today the appointment of David P. Bergers as Vice President of External Relations and General Counsel of the College, effective August 1, 2020. A graduate of Eastern Nazarene College (1989) and Yale Law School (1992), Bergers brings a distinguished career in law to his new role at the College, most recently as a partner in the Boston office of Jones Day, a global law firm. Bergers previously served as managing director and general counsel at LPL Financial and acting Deputy Director of the Division of Enforcement for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. As Vice President of External Relations, Bergers will have responsibility for the College’s relationships with churches, alumni, government entities, and the community. As General Counsel, he will coordinate the College’s legal activity and serve as primary liaison with external counsel when required.
“David is uniquely qualified for this role. He is a talented leader, strategic thinker, and gifted public speaker who is passionate about the mission of our College. I am supremely confident in his ability to be an effective ambassador for the College with all our constituent groups and believe he will be a major contributor to the flourishing future that is in store for us here,” said Jack Connell, President of Eastern Nazarene College.
Bergers’ return to Eastern Nazarene College comes with a deep sense of calling to give back to his alma mater. According to Bergers, “Eastern Nazarene College has had a tremendously positive impact on my life, both professionally and personally. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the College’s mission alongside all the dedicated members of the ENC community. “
Bergers lives in Providence, RI with his wife, Kathy, and their children, Joshua and Caleb, where they attend Bethany Church of the Nazarene.
