Lead Teacher – Campus Kinder Haus (Early Childhood Center) – Full Time


Eastern Nazarene College, a four-year Christian liberal arts college on Boston’s south shore, is seeking a full time Lead Teacher for Campus Kinder Haus (CKH), an early childhood center serving families in the South Shore and Boston areas as well as the college community.  Lead Teachers work with students and families for the 40 week school year.

CKH is a laboratory pre-school and implements a holistic approach to developmental education.  In addition to its regular staff, Campus Kinder Haus employs and mentors college students studying education at Eastern Nazarene College.

  • Responsibilities:


    • Provide written developmentally appropriate lesson plans for each day, one week in advance providing daily experiences in the subjects of: art, music, literature, science, dramatic play, mathematics, and gross motor skills.  Prepare a monthly newsletter for parents.
    • Promote and supervise activities, which promote the social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive, and physical development of each child.
    • Maintain accurate attendance records and emergency contact lists.
    • Provide and maintain a neat, clean and organized classroom.
    • Monitor each child’s development, sharing any and all concerns with the Director and, when appropriate, with the child’s parents/guardians.
    • Observe children consistently throughout the week and document their growth and development.  Prepare progress reports two times per year (January and June) and discuss reports with the Director and each child’s parent(s).
    • Work with parents whenever possible to promote understanding of growth and development of their child in school; encourage parent participation in the classroom and school program; be available for parent conferences whenever necessary; attend parent workshops and other school functions (i.e. Christmas program, graduation).
    • Supervise all activities to ensure safety of each child at all times.
    • Work with and evaluate college student aides’ who work in the classroom and report concerns immediately to the director.
    • Assume responsibility for operation of the center in the absence of the Director.
    • Assist the Director when necessary.
    • Complete 20 hours of training for Department of Early Education and Care, including 5 hours of Special Education Training.
    • Attend staff meetings (two hours each month) afterschool and/orevening meetings.


  • Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
    • Experience and training for the designation of Lead Teacher under the MA Early Education and Care specifications.
    • Current certification in American Red Cross, First Aid and CPR.
    • Candidates must possess high value and appreciation for the Church of the Nazarene and a thoughtful understanding of the Wesleyan Holiness tradition.
    • A committed Christian faith evident in daily life, and commitment to the mission, educational philosophy and lifestyle expectations of the College.
