Business Analyst


Eastern Nazarene College, a four-year Christian liberal arts college on Boston’s south shore, is seeking a Business Analyst to liaise between departments and IT staff in the analysis of business processes, report administration, evaluation of software, implementation and support of new and existing systems with a primary focus on ERP related solutions.  Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will have a broad range of responsibilities and may function as project manager, report writer and application owner as needs dictate.  Must possess a customer-centered attitude, a desire to work in a team-oriented environment that serves a diverse population, and support the traditions and values of Christian higher education in a diverse, busy educational institution.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for the planning and development of the ERP related systems and services
    • Provide technical support and coordination in managing the installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting of various systems on an ongoing basis
    • Develop work-flows, create campaigns and prepare / execute email campaigns
    • Research and implement new solutions for improved marketing to prospective students
    • Serve as IT subject matter expert for supported systems
    • Applying version upgrades and maintenance to systems
    • Provide technical support to staff
    • Share on-call duties including serving as primary contact for select systems
    • Work with functional and technical staff to analyze business needs and work with software vendors to implement effective applications
    • Support end users of the ERP systems with day-to-day operations; troubleshoot problems
    • Interface with Ellucian and other 3rd party vendors, opening and managing tickets as necessary
    • Leverage reporting tools in the creation of complex reports, dashboards and queries which can be automated and/or manually executed by end-users as required
    • Collaborate with key contacts at Nazarene institutions for best practices, cost savings and efficient implementation
    • Perform standard system management tasks for supported applications; manage user accounts and security groups, assist with user and system installations as necessary
    • Process files from external sources (Test Scores, Name Purchases, etc.)
    • Make changes to applications as necessary; e.g. add new attributes, modify user interface, etc.
    • Interact with the application vendor(s); relay problems/errors and work with vendor and/or Nazarene consortium to resolve them, communicate necessary changes/updates and assist in implementation
    • Design and automate processes to allow individual departments to be self-sufficient in the management of day-to-day operations including name imports, mail merges, data extracts for mailings
    • Maintain documentation related to implementation, configuration, usage and security
    • Establish best practice procedures for applications
    • Develop and deliver Recruiter training for new and existing staff
    • Other duties as required


  • Requirements:


    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or Communications required
    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM or a willingness to participate in training desirable
    • Report writing and data manipulation experience using tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, etc. (Tableau required)
    • Working knowledge of database queries and query tools (SQL Server preferred)
    • SQL Server database administration experience desirable
    • Familiarity with mailing list management tools (Click Dimensions preferred)
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • May serve as a backup to other IT staff as appropriate and where skills are applicable
    • Detail oriented, analytical and accurate
    • Self-motivated and able to work within a team structure as well as independently
    • Strong work ethic
    • Occasional travel to sister schools in consortium as required
    • Must be a self-starter who takes initiative and is able to work independently and proactively.
    • Must communicate effectively and maintain a positive rapport with faculty and staff
    • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the maturity necessary to work effectively with staff of varied backgrounds, skills and personalities in order to achieve key objectives
