hough spring 2009 marks the end of the three-year grant, there is a considerable residual interest in science and religion on this small campus:

  • Karl Giberson and Randall Stephens are under contract with Harvard University Press to write The Anointed (on evangelicalism and “experts”); this includes a considerable discussion of the evolution controversy.
  • Karl Giberson is one of the principal organizers (along with Francis Collins and Darrel Falk) of BioLogos (funded by the Templeton Foundation).
  •  Donald Yerxa is a member of the core advisory team of The Trinity Forum’s Science, Faith, and Truth Project (funded by the Templeton Foundation).
  • Donald Yerxa is editing a book in the University of South Carolina Press’s Historians in Conversation on the history of science and religion (scheduled to appear in print in late 2009).
  • Randall Stephens has applied for a three-year LSI extension grant for a joint ENC/Gordon College Polkinghorne Society initiative.

The chairs and members of the Polkinghorne Society wish to express their deep appreciation to the Metanexus Institute and the John Templeton Foundation for supporting the LSI program. As a result of this support, the science and religion conversation on the campus of Eastern Nazarene College is vibrant. It is this college’s most significant interdisciplinary activity.
